Alexander House, Southend-on-Sea

This 60’s office block is located on a prominent site adjacent to Southend-on-Sea’s Railway Station and High Street and  Orbit has developed proposals to convert it to create 325 residential units, retail space and a 3 storey public house. The proposal transforms the appearance of this outdated office slab to 4 contemporary residential “towers”.

Balconies will be provided for all units. On the south side they will offer views over the Thames delta while they are designed as winter gardens on the north side. Internally helix stairs are used to minimise the area of the cores.
