When we relocated from the basement of 83 Blackfriars to 82 Blackfriars, the move presented a rare opportunity to design our own workspace entirely on our own terms.
Having spent years below ground, the vision for the new studio was clear from the outset: bring in the light. We applied the same design rigour and attention to detail to our own space as we do to every client project, resulting in a studio that is both a working environment and a direct expression of who Orbit is.
Natural light is the defining feature of our new studio. Moving above ground allowed us to maximise daylight throughout the space, creating an environment that feels open, connected and energising- a marked contrast to the constraints of the previous basement office.
At the heart of the studio sits a shared gathering space, a place for our team to come together away from the desks, whether for lunch, informal meetings or the kind of conversations that don't happen in front of a screen. Designed to feel welcoming and distinct from the working areas, it reflects Orbit's belief that culture is built as much in the in-between moments as it is in the day-to-day work.
Orbit's brand colours are woven throughout the interior, from material choices to details, giving the studio a distinct identity that feels considered rather than decorative. Every decision was made with the same intention that underpins the practice's wider work, that good design should be purposeful, coherent and lasting.
The project is a testament to what a practice can achieve when it turns its expertise inward. The result is a studio that reflects our values, supports the way our team works and sets the tone for everything that comes out of it.
